My family and I have had the honor of supporting the efforts of Safe Families in Sioux Falls, both financially and as a Safe Family Resource Friend. The role of Safe Families is impactful because strong families make strong communities. Safe Families assists parents who love their kids, who recognize their need for temporary help, and are working to make changes to strengthen their family.

The act of helping kids who need a safe reprieve from their family’s crisis isn’t always so “simple.” Fortunately, Safe Families organizes all the moving parts into an action plan for those willing to help. Assistance is divided into different focus areas, so everyone can do their part, and nobody is alone in their efforts.

It has been encouraging to see churches partner with Safe Families as an outpouring of their missions and outreach efforts. These networks of caring hearts, combined with the structure of Safe Families, have the potential to impact the foster care system in South Dakota. This impact is possible because Safe Families prevent an environment for neglect or abuse that otherwise would usher in the need for foster care.

We are grateful for this program in South Dakota communities.
